• Organic brain diseases
• Endocrine diseases (e.g. thyroid (hyper/hypo))
• Diabetes mellitus
• Liver failure
• Renal failure
• Chronic fatigue syndrome
• Vitamin deficiency (Pernicious anaemia, pellagra)
• Medication side effects (e.g. steroids, indomethacins, barbiturates)
• Medication overdose
• Medication abuse
• Withdrawal (from medication, alcohol, cocaine, marijuana)
• Alcohol/substance abuse

 

Serotonin syndrome

(Emergency)

Symptoms include

• Abdominal cramps
• Agitation
• Diarrhoea
• Myoclonus
• Tremulousness
• Coma
• Tachycardia
• Hypotension or hypertension
• Confusion
• Disorientation
• Profuse sweating
• Hyperpyrexia
