Other pseudomonas

Burkholderia mallei (formerly P. mallei)

Nonmotile

Causes glanders (mostly affects horses, donkeys, and mules)

Acute, localised suppurative infection (typically of eye, nose, or lip)

Acute pulmonary infection (characterised by lung abscesses, lobar or bronchopneumonia)

Acute septicemic infection (almost always fatal)

Chronic suppurative infection (multiple subcutaneous or intramuscular abscesses)

 

Pseudomonas pseudomallei

Endemic to SE Asia, parts of Africa, and Middle East

Cause disease when introduced into wounds or abrasions of skin
